Getting started

Install, activate and run your first comparison.

  • Installation

Install SchemaSync Professional on Windows, with or without administrator rights.

  • Activation and licensing

Enter a licence key, activate without internet access, and move a licence between machines.

  • Your first comparison

Connect two databases and read the results, end to end, in about five minutes.

Comparing

Connections, comparison options, filters and snapshots.

  • Connections

Add and secure database connections, including TLS, SSH tunnels and read-only mode.

  • Comparing schemas

What SchemaSync compares, how objects are matched, and how to read the results.

  • Filters and rules

Exclude the differences you keep on purpose, so the comparison only reports real drift.

  • Schema snapshots

Save a schema to a file, compare a live database against it, and keep a reference of known-good state.

Deploying

Generate migration SQL and apply it safely.

  • Generating migration SQL

Turn a comparison into an ordered, reviewable migration script you control.

  • Synchronization

Apply changes to a target schema with pre-flight checks, a transaction and a rollback point.

Backup and restore

Snapshots, retention policies and rolling back.

  • Backup

Take schema and data snapshots on demand or on a schedule, with retention limits.

  • Restore

Roll a schema back to a known-good state, with a preview and a dry run first.

Reference

Command line, privileges and troubleshooting.

  • Command-line interface

Run comparisons, fail builds on unexpected drift, and export migration scripts from CI. Enterprise only.

  • Troubleshooting

Connection failures, privilege errors, false differences and activation problems.
